APPRENTICES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE WEEKNIGHT CLASSES DURING APPRENTICESHIP SCHOOL DATES 

Deposits: Please note that you will not get your deposit refunded if you drop the class or do not show up without prior cancellations of starting the class.

If you select to ENROLL in a class and do not Pay immediately, you may need to return to the “Training Center Payment” link to pay for your class.  Otherwise, you may receive an error when clicking on ENROLL a second time for the same class.

If you will not be able to attend an event you registered for, it is important that you notify us at events@pipetrades.org before the start date of the course. Remember, there are only so many seats available for these courses and by not canceling with us in advance you are taking away the ability for someone else to take that spot. Those persons who register for a class and subsequently do not show up for the class and do not notify us at least a day before, will be removed from all other classes for which they are registered and will be required to place a $100 deposit at the Apprenticeship before they will be allowed to register for future courses.

OSHA 30 Card

Description: This course
provides the OSHA Outreach training for the OSHA 30 card. Students who
successfully complete this course will obtain an OSHA 30hr card from an
Authorized OTI.

Plastic Bonding Certification (UA-B2)
Description: The Plastic Piping Installer Certification Program is designed to help meet the growing need for certified installers for the piping industry. The program provides pre-tested, certified and immediately available journeymen installers.

  •  Promote a level of qualification standard, which will support safety, quality, and economical construction of the plastic piping industry and users.
  • Provide the piping industry with a qualification that is complete, accurate, consistent, reliable and current to comply with the required installation applications.


Certification:

  • After the applicant has successfully completed the 12 hour course, written examination, and practical examination, he/she will be issued an “Active” P.I.P.E. Plastic Bonding Certification (UA-B2), and ID card.

Backflow Prevention Tester

Description: This course is designed to teach the basics of backblow prevention and cross-connection control. The user will be able to identify and test the wide variety of backflow preventers, and recognize the devices that cannot be tested.

Requirements: Must be Dressed in appropriate Work attire (no
short, open-toe shoes, etc.) and bring
proper PPE. One must attend ALL classes to successfully pass this course.

A book fee of $112.46 + processing fee payable to AZ Pipe Trades Apprenticeship. This will be refunded upon finishing the class. If you wish to keep your book we will keep the fee. 

Eligible Persons Only.

Prerequisites: Individuals must have a City of Phoenix Journeyman License or per ASSE Series 5000 Standard #5110, a notarized letter on company letterhead stating that the individual applying for certification has at least five (5) years experience of plumbing, or a related industry field.

Certification: After the applicant has successfully completed the 40 hour course, written examination, and practical examination, he/she will be issued an “Active” P.I.P.E. Backflow Tester Certification card. (Click Here for more information.)

to introduce Lean construction foundation principles and tools to enable members

CAD – Level 1

Description: CAD Level 1
introduces the user to the basic functions of AutoCAD to produce a
design in model space, dimensionally accurate, and to scale. The user
is also introduced to PaperSpace where they can create a printed
version of their work, with dimension and annotation..

CAD – Level 2

Description: CAD Level 2 reintroduces the user to the basic functions of AutoCAD and builds on that knowledge to create 3-dimensional objects and models. The user also further develops their knowledge of file and data management and project preparation with Layers, External References & templates.

The user will – familiarize with the layout of AutoCAD 3D Modeling features (i.e. menus, Toolbars, Commands, Work Spaces & Palettes; utilize dialog boxes, Shortcuts (Keyboard & mouse), and Ribbons; advanced use of Layers (Layer Control and Layer Manager) and External References (XRef Manager); input data to create & modify 3-Dimensional objects in order to produce complete projects with clarity and accuracy; understanding of a team effort to produce large projects quickly and efficiently through communication and coordination.

GF IR Fusion Welding

Description: This is a 20
hour class for qualifying to ASME B31.3

UA/EPRI Industrial Rigging

Description: This course
is for the journeyperson or apprentice rigger interested in obtaining a
rigging certificate. Certification is required for work on industrial
sites as a rigger or as rigging supervisor. The program explains the
complexities of working safely as rigging specialists and of piping
industry requirements. Work site safety and the latest proven rigging
techniques are primary areas of focus. Participants will receive
instruction in the safe use and inspection of tools, equipment, and
overhead cranes, and in the requirements for setup of mobile hoisting
equipment. All appropriate ASME and OSHA requirements will be addressed
in this course.

Requirements: Eligible
Persons Only.
A UA/EPRI Certification Exam will be
administered at the end of this course requiring 80% or Better, as well
as a practical exam for certification. This is a UA/EPRI certification.
Your must be a UA member in good standing to take the certification
exams.

Prerequisites: Complete Basic Rigging Course or
Pass Rigging Pretest – 80% or Better.

Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) 2012

Description: The purpose of this course is to provide a working knowledge of the 2012 UPC for
preparation to take the City of Phoenix licensing exam. This course contains classroom
lecture, case studies, online content, and practice tests. This is a review or update course
for Journeypersons with plumbing experience. No time will be spent explaining common
plumbing terms.

Requirements: The written examination will be performed upon completion of this course with
the City of Phoenix. Requirements for registering for the exam(s) and passing
grade requirements will be distributed during the class.

Prerequisites: Must have at least (4) years’ experience in the plumbing trade.

Medgas Installer

Description: The Medical Gas Installers Certification is one of the levels of P.I.P.E.’s Certification Programs which has been developed to serve the needs of medical gas system installers. In order to successfully complete this certification you must complete a 40 hour course, a Brazing Practical Exam, and pass the Medical Gas Installer Written Exam. The written
examination is intended to determine the applicant’s knowledge of
medical gas systems and applicable portions of NFPA 99 (2015 Edition).
Participants must receive a 90% or better to pass the exam.

Requirements: Must pass hands-on Brazing test. Must be Dressed
in appropriate Work attire (no shorts, open-toe shoes, etc.)

A book fee of $125.78 + processing fee payable to AZ Pipe Trades Apprenticeship. This will be refunded upon finishing the class. If you wish to keep your book we will keep the fee. 

Prerequisites: 4 years experience in the trades or have completed 4th year of your apprenticeship.

UA Weld Test Events

Description: The UA Weld Tests are usually the
2nd Saturday of every month. See Actual Schedule below.

Requirements: Eligible Persons Only.

Prerequisites: Pursuant to the requirements of the UA
welding certification program and the specific WPQR’s and those provisions
prescribed by the Local union and/or the ATF, ALL pre-test requirements must be
satisfied in order to participate in any event, including other eligibility
requirements. (see the ATR for these requirements and prerequisites).

A welding instructor/ATR must sign paperwork stating that you are ready to test before you can sign up. This can be done during weld lab hours before the test date.
The last day to sign up with the Apprenticeship Office to test is the
Friday before the test date by 12pm.
This must be done in person.

There is a $25.00 deposit required, which must be deposited when you submit your paperwork. This will be returned as long as you show up for the test.

NCCCO Signalperson

Description: Provided to the student with comprehensive information about the NCCCO written & practical examinations required to become a certified signalperson. The initial certification is for 5 years, after which time a signalperson is required to recertify. Recertification is required in the 12 months prior to the certification expiration date.

Requirements: Eligible Persons Only. Pass written & practical exam. This is a third party certification requiring a $75 nonrefundable test fee. This fee is waived for 4th year apprentices by the ITF.

Prerequisites: Comply with code of ethics for signalpersons. At least 18 years of age. Comply with NCCO substance abuse policy.

Orbital Welding

Description:Safe and
proper equipment use, practice, and certification requirements covering
automatic orbital welding, working with ARC107, ARC207, and ARC205
machines.

UA 18A Testing will be administered when all sizes have been welded on
the bench and when the instructor is confident of your position welding
skills.

Robotic Total Station

Description: This course will equip students with the fundamentals skills and knowledge to operate a Sokkia RTS (Robotic Total Station) and utilize available software to gather and layout field measurement data through the use of the Panasonic tablet and magnet field layout software. We will also perform the steps necessary to transfer files from the AutoCAD point layout software into the RTS tablet, as well as taking files from the table in to a 3D CAD environment. (class limit 12 people)
Requirements: Eligible persons only.
Prerequisites: None (all field layout & CAD/BIM personnel encouraged to attend)
Deposit: There is a $100 deposit for the class. Refunds will be given the last day of class. If you do not cancel 48 hours in advance or you do not show up for class your deposit will not be refunded.

Robotic Total Station
